Aida Zabidi
She woke up one day and realized she had wings.

She was pretty sure she didn’t have them the night before, but there they were, two huge feathered wings on her back.

No wonder sleep was so uncomfortable.

She tried to look around, trying to appreciate the new wings that had sprouted from her back. She moved them experimentally, surprised at how weightless they were. The sunlight bounced off the feathers as they unfurled in the breeze. A glimmer of gold through the white, rustling slightly in the wind.

“He gave you wings so you can fly.”

She smiled ever so slightly, but the look in her eyes was one of frustration.

“What’s the matter?”

“I’m afraid of heights.”
