Food Review: Moon's Kitchen, Putra Heights

If you’re around Putra Heights and you like your steak, drop by Moon’s Kitchen – a modest looking shop on an unassuming shop lot that offers a surprising choice of meats at reasonable prices. This is actually the second branch for the owners, who still operate another outlet in Ampang.

The interior is homey and clean, with minimalist European inspired décor. The space is large enough to cater to bigger groups, although reservations are probably recommended for groups bigger than eight. There’s also enough room to manoeuvre a pram, for families bringing young children – and that’s always helpful.

It's a mostly Western fare, but their specialty are their meat dishes. They offer a selection of meats, from lamb to their different cuts of beef. For those looking for something a bit more of the premium side of things, try their wagyu steak, or one of their lobsters (on a seasonal basis).

I had the lamb chops, which were fantastic and well portioned – very tender and glazed well, absolutely bursting with flavour. I usually like my lamb with a bit of mint sauce but the marinade was rich enough that I didn’t feel like the meat needed any accompaniment. Served with grilled vegetables and mash on the side.

A friend had their rib-eye steak with Chipotle sauce, which was juicy and well cooked.

Prices for their meat dishes range from RM20 onwards, depending on what you're ordering.

Moon’s also has their own catering service – for those who are planning to host a party or a barbecue, you can order their marinated lamb chops or their rib eye, which are all delicious – and they’ll even deliver to your house if it’s a nearby area. This comes with sauces as well!  You can check out their offerings on Instagram at @moons_kitchen or @mymeatdept
