F-Concept Dining by Buffalo Kitchen

F-Concept by Buffalo Kitchen is a tucked away restaurant above the more prominently situated Chawan at the corner of Telawi, Bangsar. I had never had the previous inclincation to visit, but a friend suggested we go during the Wesak break, and it was a well-suggested place to visit.

The interior of Buffalo Kitchen is warm, woodsy with an open kitchen counter in the middle of the room. There was also a corner room for a bit more privacy (and a bit of people watching!)

Bangsar is well known for good eats, but also equally known for its pricier meal range. I expected no less of Buffalo Kitchen, and as expected, the Western style menu ranged from RM18-70 on its menu, depending on your choice of pasta or steak. It was a nice surprise to find their lunch menu deal, which was an absolute steal for RM25, inclusive of appetizer, main and dessert. I opted for that and chose a starter of tempura tiger prawn, duck confit pesto pasta and the pistachio ice cream.

The Appetizer:

The tempura prawn was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crispy on the outside, not too oily, and nothing fancy except for the natural flavour oozing through underneath the tempura. They served a couple with sweet Thai chilli sauce and some salad with dressing. Just enough to whet the appetite.

The Main:

I’ve always loved duck confit and pesto, and to combine both in a single dish? Well, it probably could do no wrong in my book anyway, but the dish itself really stood out on its own. Certain restaurants always make the duck confit a bit too salty, but this was just nice, and the taste blended well with the pesto pasta – great flavour of the basil, very fragrant. The only comment I had was that the pasta was probably a bit too soft, but it was a minimal grouse because I prefer mine al dente.

Dessert:

Pistachio ice cream just popping with flavour and melted in my mouth, creamy and delicious – I could have probably eaten it without the chocolate sauce that they served it with because the chocolate probably overpowered the actual taste of the ice cream, but I did like the little meringue pieces that they threw in. Could have eaten more of that, that’s for sure.

I would definitely come back and try the other things on the menu. Service was fantastic, the interior was great for a group meal, and overall was a really good dining experience.

For those who have frequented here before, apparently the menu has changed and they now serve a couple of pork dishes, but overall they seem to have maintained the quality.
