What started out as a promising dinner outing at Bluestone Restaurant Bar (349 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, 3000, Victoria, Australia) ended up disappointingly average.
We were seated downstairs in the lounge section, which was comfortable, albeit a bit dark. Our waitress was attentive, and the service was quick.
We started with some tapas (the salmon cake, sardine fillets and char-grilled octopus); which were rather average. The octopus in partiular wasn't very good - a strange mix of flavours that didn't sit quite well. The pizzas we ordered were good, especially the mushroom pizza, if a bit overpriced. I also wouldn't recommend the orange blossom mocktail, which was a fusion of flavours that left a strange aftertaste.
Overall, it's an okay restaurant - perhaps the flavours of some of the things that we tried were a bit too experimental and it was a hit and miss at times, but the exorbitant prices wouldn't make it one of my top picks.
